Hey, I’m Lance!

My School of Splice goal

I’m learning how to build a a newsletter community around teaching the Samoan language through storytelling.

I’m the editor of Talamua, a news website that covers the Pacific Islands. Connect with me on Twitter.

Rishad and Alan of Splice are coaching me on my SOS journey.

In this program, I’m learning how to

  1. Wireframe a landing page for Leulupani

  2. Collect email addresses

  3. Run a signup campaign

  4. Test a newsletter

What I’ll need to do

Write a job description for my website. Imagine this is a person. What are the top 3 things that I want this person to do? Eg. “I want you to show people a list of things they can listen to”

I’ll draw a rough wireframe — a scribble that outlines what goes where — just the outlines

I’ll run a signup campaign (this could be on Facebook and the Talamua website) with a specific objective:
How many people can I convert from your current 35K follows on Facebook? 5%? 10%?

Time to build a simple newsletter prototype with my users

Finally, I’ll get user feedback.
