Nabilah Said

Hey, I’m Nabilah!

My School of Splice goal

I’m learning how to find out what my community wants from us so we can serve them better.

I’m the editor of ArtsEquator, a digital media platform that covers arts and culture in Southeast Asia. Connect with me on LinkedIn.

Jane Mahoney is coaching me on my SOS journey.

In this program, I’m learning how to

  1. How to survey my audience

  2. How to act on their feedback

  3. And how to keep that door to feedback open

What I’ll need to do

I’m going to pull out some Post-Its. Or put these on a kanban board like Trello.

What are the different segments to my audience?

What problems do each of those segments want me to solve?

What content formats are they most receptive to?

Under each of these columns, I’ll put down my hunches. Eg. Audience segments could include students, collectors, museums.

Now I’ll put down 5 people that I think would be most insightful in helping you answer those questions.

I’ll talk to them. Tell them what I’m trying to figure out with this exercise. I’ll ask them what I’m missing or misunderstanding. Then I’ll make the changes.

Time to create a survey form. Google Form, Typeform, whatever works.

I’ll consolidate all the emails I have into one mailing list.

I’ll send the survey form out to all of them. (“Hey, we’re planning for 2022. We want to know: How can we be helpful to you? I need to remember: the more specific my questions, the more specifically I can build utility and value.)

I’ll add the link to my home page, and send it out to all my social channels.

When I get the results, I’ll start interpreting them into actions.

What have I learned about your audience? What surprised me? What is the one thing that I know I can quickly build for them in a month to delight them?
